MU Division of Finance has overall responsibility for creating a financial environment on campus that meets our fiduciary responsibilities, demonstrates stewardship and meets all of our regulatory requirements. The Cashiers Office is responsible for managing student finances and consists of accounts receivable, departmental deposits, cash handling, collections, refund processing, sponsor billing, and student loan repayment. Job Description

This position is responsible for handling various cash management and collection tasks and is also responsible for handling the first tier of escalated calls as it relates to student loans, collection calls and Accounts Receivable. During peak times of year, this position will assist with student account customer service efforts, whether it be through phone, email, walk-in traffic and/or processing payments.

Key Responsibilities
• Monthly Collection Process – oversee the monthly collection process for students who are no longer enrolled and owe an outstanding balance. This includes sending letters and emails. Oversees the bad debt recovery process as accounts are paid/returned from the collection agency. This includes reporting adjustments to collection agency if payments are received internally and reviewing the monthly collection agency invoices prior to processing payment.
• Responsible for completing necessary steps related to Student Financials PUM/Bundle Testing that impact the monthly collection process and/or bad debt.
• Bad Debt – process a daily query within myZou and review results, determining whether or not payments have been made on accounts that have been written off. If/when payments are made, move forward with recovering the bad debt to reflect the outstanding charges owed on the account.
• Non-enrolled Payment Agreements – review non-enrolled payment agreements on a monthly basis to determine whether or not the agreements are current. If/when payments are not met, agreement is voided and the account is subject to being referred to an outside collection agency.
• Reconciliation tasks – responsible for overseeing various reconciliation tasks that may be tied to the following: student accounts receivable, institutional student loans, student health insurance, third party billing, cash/ACH deposits, and outside collection agencies.
• Loans – Handles the first tier of escalated calls regarding student loan collections, inquiries, and transcript requests. Reviews loan status and updates accounts accordingly.
• ARBI - Handles the first tier of escalated calls regarding Accounts/Receivable & Billing inquiries. Creates Billing Specialists and Collectors, handles payment application questions/issues that arise, as well as determining access to the ARBI module vs. the use of University Shared Services.
• Customer Service - Answer in-bound calls that come through the main office phone number. Also responsible for answering the institutional loan, refunds, & A/R email accounts, and assisting with walk-in traffic.

Salary

Salary Range: $18.00 - $23.00

M-F; 8am - 5pm. Opportunities available for a hybrid or remote work environment.
40 hours per week

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Two years customer service experience; prefer experience handling difficult conversations. Previous experience working with Microsoft Office products. Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, TouchNet, and related reporting tools
