Departments of Dental Public Health & Behavioral Science and Oral & Craniofacial Sciences at the UMKC School of Dentistry.

Job Description

The University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Dentistry is seeking applications for an experienced administrative assistant for the departments of Dental Public Health and Behavioral Science and Oral and Craniofacial Sciences. Successful candidates will be self-directed, detail oriented, accurate, and able to manage multiple tasks or projects. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Support Departments
  • Assistance with logistics of department seminars, visiting speakers and scholars, organizing itineraries, etc.
  • Assist with organizing annual Departmental Retreats and associated reports
  • Assist with reports for Departmental Reviews/accreditation, etc.
  • Conducting orientations for new staff/students and faculty
  • Scheduling
  • Process vacation and sick leave requests
  • Prepare faculty meeting minutes
  • Preparation of monthly Dean’s Reports

Support Community Engagement
  • Provide administrative support coordinating 3-week dental student externships. This will include communicating with sites, administering surveys, updating affiliation agreements, documenting student productivity, and documenting yearly faculty calibration
  • Coordinate community engagement supplies

Promote Departments Internally and Externally
  • Keep department webpages up to date so they are accurate and current
  • Promote departments work on social media
  • Update department bulletin boards to promote our work internally

Increase Research Productivity
  • Coordinate equipment surpluses, chemical disposal, etc.
  • Provide grant and research support such as data entry
  • Assist investigators with populating MyVita

  • Oversee assignments submitted by students in Foliotek and communicate with students to make sure the correct evidence is submitted in the proper format
  • Organize logistics and paperwork for All-School IPE Events
  • Organize logistics, pre-judging, and Midwest Dental Conference Finalists Competition for dental student poster competition

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and advanced ability to organize and maintain electronic files.
  • Demonstrated advanced ability to utilize Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive, and OneNote.
  • Experience with web management/social media and Canvas is highly preferred.

Full Time/Part Time

100% FTE (40 hours per week), fully-benefit-eligible, staff position


$13.27 to $17.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
