Summary of Job Duties:The Assistant Director for Residence Education - Outreach will assist in the development of educational initiatives that inform students of their responsibilities as community members. This position focuses on educational outreach, student development, and community health and safety of students living on campus. The Assistant Director will interact with a variety of partners both on and off-campus on a regular basis to resolve matters where students of concern (non-counseling) are involved. The Assistant Director will collaborate with the Pat Walker Health Center, Office for Student Standards and Conduct, the Counseling and Psychological Services, University Police Department, and other campus/non-campus entities to develop and present education and training sessions on such topics as crisis response and student welfare management. This position is designated as weather/event essential.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education, counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education

  • At least three years of post master's, progressively responsible experience in Student Affairs



Applicable equivalencies may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least five years of post master's, progressively responsible experience in Student Affairs

  • Working knowledge/experience of the difference between Student Code violations and Housing policy violations

  • Experience working within a residence hall

  • Experience leading teams of full-time and student staff in training and development initiatives



Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of current and emerging trends and issues in university residential environments

  • Interpersonal, written, public speaking, and technical communication skills

  • Crisis management skills

  • Ability to collaborate and direct activities of multiple groups of faculty, staff, and students

  • Effective decision-making abilities



Salary Information:

$50,000 - $55,000 (commensurate with education and experience)
