Admissions/New Student Services invites applications for a Computer Support Specialist III . This position serves as the technical lead/senior position within the Admissions department (specifically for Banner SIS and Slate CRM) in close collaboration with IT. This position serves as the Undergraduate Admissions lead on implementation and integration of third-party software, which includes documenting, testing, troubleshooting and training end users. The Computer Support Specialist serves as Banner Admissions Module Technical Representative focusing on planned upgrades, scheduled downtime and admissions security data steward; serves as member of Slate team with IT; the Designated School Official (DSO) for the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), and the Undergraduate Admissions liaison for SIS – Banner. The Computer Support Specialist III will closely collaborate on implementation, integration and maintenance of Slate CRM.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Annual updates for Common Application, including configuration and integration
  • CRM – Slate
  • SIS – Banner
  • Ellucian Document Management System
  • Ellucian Work Flow
  • Quottly
  • Determine and authorize access to Banner Enrollment Services
  • Maintain and ensure Banner data integrity and security for admissions evaluations and transfer credit articulation through a variety of processes
  • Work with programmers and analysts at EIS JIRA to coordinate testing, diagnose problems and recommend solutions
  • Database edits for census reporting
  • Identify and mark duplicate 790s in Banner
  • Lead Admissions representative of MOD Squad (Banner coordination team)
  • Oversee data integrity of Banner data for Admissions & transfer credit both incoming from Slate, and outgoing for reporting purposes, such as census reporting
  • Configuration and administration of various third-party systems in support of Admissions
  • Transfer credit evaluations for Admissions related systems including, but not limited to, Parchment Exchange, State of Montana File Transfer, NSC, miscellaneous testing services, and other state & federal systems
  • Coordinate with the Slate CRM Technical lead, including configuring, testing, and monitoring the integration, along with the application configuration for external applications sites such as the Common Application
  • Support the Admissions staff with data requests and data troubleshooting between Slate and Banner
  • Serve as site administrator and data manager to receive records, transcripts and test scores
  • Run import and export processes, edit large data sets to ensure accuracy and bridge information for CRM to SIS
  • Maintain familiarity with relevant regulations of admission for students
  • Issue and sign I-20 federal immigration documents for international students
  • Maintain familiarity with and implement BOR policy and procedures for Montana University System where it relates to Undergraduate Admissions.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of professional office practices and procedures, business English, spelling, composition, and grammar, including exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Demonstrated skill and ability to operate standard office equipment: printers, copiers, fax machine, multi-line telephone system
Minimum Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or closely related field, or any combination of education and experience that would provide the competencies required to successfully discharge essential duties.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Banner
  • Experience with a CRM, preferably Slate
  • Familiar with the University of Montana and the admission process
  • Familiar with Higher Education policies and procedures

Position Details

Position Title: Computer Support Spec III

Position Number: 006600

Department: Admissions/New Student Services

Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year.

Salary: $22.559/hrCurrent employee’s rate of pay for this position will be determined by the staff compensation plan and will minimally be this posted salary. For questions and details regarding the staff compensation plan, email the Compensation Department .

Probationary Period: Six months minimum
