Scope of Job:
To provide leadership and expertise in the planning, design and production of instructional materials and courseware in a higher education setting, utilizing both traditional and advanced instructional design techniques while applying appropriate technologies. Responsible for overseeing instructional course design in collaboration with content area experts and faculty.

Description of Duties:
• Designs, develops, and implements curricular materials and courseware.

• Advises faculty and administrators in the design, development and evaluation of the curriculum, instructional methods and materials, and research projects.

• Mentors junior staff in the department.

• Consults with faculty in the use of instructional technologies.

• Leads assigned staff in the design and production of instructional materials.

• May assist with the development of departmental policies and procedures.

• Plans and coordinates skills assessments and training.

• Coordinates, develops and conducts seminars, workshops, training and courses on various education and technology related topics.

• Researches, evaluates and recommends new instructional strategies and materials.

• Designs research protocol and conducts educational research, including the coordination of data collection, data analysis, and the dissemination of results.

• Supports the development of virtual worlds and immersive learning.

• Prepares grant applications to obtain funding for curriculum development or academic research projects.

• Represents the department and the University on assigned committees and in various teaching positions.

• Develops and generates reports as needed to evaluate assigned programs.

• Creates, maintains, and manages documentation for projects and manages assigned projects through completion.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

General direction from the assigned supervisor.

Supervises assigned staff.

Required Education:
Master’s degree in education, instructional design /technology, or closely related field from an accredited university.

Licenses/Certifications:
None.

Required Experience:
• Three (3) years of experience as an instructional designer, developer, trainer, educator, writer or a combination of all of the above with a Master’s Degree in in education, instructional design /technology, or closely related field from an accredited university, or
• Five (5) years of the required experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in in education, instructional design /technology, or closely related field from an accredited university.

Use of standard office equipment.

Working Conditions:
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required.

Other:
Knowledge of current and emerging technology, learning and instructional theory, instructional design principles, design process, and interface design principles. Ability to work as a team member and to establish effective working relationships. Ability to effectively use interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
