Job Description

Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech is seeking a Clinical Instructor, Emergency Medicine. Duties are as follows: Teach Emergency Medicine courses, primarily focused on clinical instruction to DVM students assigned to the emergency service, including teaching of interns working the evening and weekend emergency shifts as well as participation in didactic and laboratory sessions for students in the DVM curriculum. Responsible for seeing emergency cases as well as provide primary case management of emergency and ICU patients in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Provide consultation to clients and referring veterinarians seeking emergency care for their animals, including weekend and evening duty on a rotating basis. Attend professional conferences and meetings. The position requires the following: a DVM and two years of experience in emergency medicine. Excellent communication skills and interpersonal interactions, demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and commitment to excellent patient management, client service, and clinical teaching. Must be eligible for a Virginia faculty veterinary license by appointment start date. A successful criminal background check is required. Will accept a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a DVM. Must have completed degree by start date.
