 For a starting date of July 1, 2022, the Department of French and Italian at Dartmouth College seeks a tenure-track assistant professor specializing in Sub-Saharan literature and culture, with a secondary specialization in a field such as: Caribbean literature and culture, African diaspora studies, Oceanic/Indian Ocean Studies, Ecocriticism (Animal Studies, Anthropocene Studies, Critical Desert Studies), Queer and Gender Studies, Medical Humanities, Film and Media studies. 

Qualifications

       Qualified candidates should have fluency in French and English, a strong teaching record, a Ph.D. in French or Francophone Studies completed by the date of their appointment, and promise of significant scholarly accomplishment. Applicants should possess the skills to teach undergraduate courses in French literature, language, and culture at all levels. The person in this position will be expected periodically to direct our study abroad programs in France. Other opportunities include contributions to the programs in Comparative Literature, African and African American Studies, Latin American, Latino, and Caribbean Studies, the Consortium of Studies in Race, Migration, and Sexuality, and participation in events at the Leslie Humanities Center.
