Z. Lupton Patten Chair in Business Ethics

The Gary W. Rollins College of Business at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) invites applications and nominations for the Z. Lupton Patten Chair in Business Ethics to start in August 2022. This newly established, endowed Chair is expected to develop and strengthen business ethics in the curriculum, conduct research in the area of business ethics, collaborate with top scholars in the field of ethics education, sponsor ethics conferences and seminars, and encourage other faculty members and administrators to explore methods to better incorporate and strengthen business ethics education at UTC. The Chair will also be expected to take a leadership position in proactively engaging with the corporate community and other external stakeholders (e.g., local and/or regional government) to advance business ethics education, awareness, and/or pursue shared priorities and goals. The Z. Lupton Patten Chair in Business Ethics will serve as a tenured faculty member appointed at the rank of Professor in one of the college’s four departments and will teach courses at the graduate and/or undergraduate levels.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants must have a PhD or other terminal degree in business, ethics, or a closely related field, and be a nationally recognized scholar with an active research record in business ethics that supports the appointment at the rank of Professor with tenure in the Rollins College of Business at UTC. In addition, qualified applicants must have excellent teaching experience and abilities in the area of business ethics. Qualified applicants must also have previous experience working collaboratively with other faculty and staff to advance business ethics education.

The College of Business at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga received the largest philanthropic gift in the history of UTC from Gary W. Rollins and Kathleen Rollins of Atlanta. The $40 million gift established the Rollins College of Business as the first named college at UTC. About Chattanooga, Tennessee

Chattanooga, the fourth largest city in the state, is located in southeast Tennessee near the Georgia border. Companies like Unum, McKee, U.S. Xpress, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, Volkswagen, Coke United and Amazon.com are located in Chattanooga.
