Academic Pediatric Endocrinologist

This is an excellent opportunity to join a vibrant and collegial academic environment.  The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology & Diabetes in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a Pediatric Endocrinologist.  This full-time academic physician will join a clinical team currently consisting of 7 physicians, 3 advanced practice clinicians, and 2 pediatric endocrine fellows.  This position will provide medical management to children with diabetes and other endocrine-related diagnoses on both an inpatient and outpatient basis, and will participate in the education of pediatric and internal medicine fellows and residents.  This is primarily a clinical position with teaching responsibilities, but there will also be an opportunity for research activities as well.  Current academic research interests include the genetics of type 1 diabetes, prevention or delaying onset of type 1 diabetes, and puberty and diabetes population management.

The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology is a collegial and growing Division that provides specialty care for children with pediatric endocrine conditions including metabolic disorders, bone density/DXA scans, Turner syndrome, Prader Willi syndrome, disorders of sexual development, gender management and support, accredited CF center for diabetes related cystic fibrosis, and an ADA recognized diabetes clinic and education program for type 1 diabetes. Outpatient clinical activities are based in Eccles Primary Children’s Outpatient Services with regular outreach clinics held in Riverton, St George, Logan, and Layton, Utah. All faculty are expected to participate in outreach clinics. Inpatient clinical activities are carried out at Primary Children’s Hospital (PCH) and the University of Utah Hospital.  In addition, we provide regular call coverage for the Alaska Native Medical Center.

Qualified candidates must be Board Qualified/Board Certified in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Endocrine Medicine.  The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical or Tenure track at the academic level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
