Job Description Summary

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Auburn University is seeking to fill a nine-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August 16, 2022. We seek applicants with research specialization in Geometry-Analysis, broadly interpreted. The successful candidate will be able to interact with researchers in a wide range of disciplines; e.g. statistics, algebraic geometry, differential equations. For example, some of our statisticians are using tools from Riemannian geometry, our algebra group research centers on Lie theory, algebraic geometry, and applications, and our PDE group research lies at the interface of spectral theory, symplectic geometry, dynamical systems, and harmonic analysis.

The department has a PhD program and various MS programs, including a new MS program in Data Science. It has over 50 mathematicians/statisticians and more than 120 graduate students engaged in research in a wide variety of areas in mathematics and statistics. Minimum Qualifications

Successful candidates will have independent research programs in Mathematics and teaching experience at both undergraduate and graduate levels. An earned doctorate in Mathematics by the appointment start date is required and applicants should have strong evidence of teaching and research ability in Mathematics. Successful candidates are expected to be able to communicate effectively in English. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills are required. The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.

Desired Qualifications

Postdoctoral research experience is desired.
