Job Summary:
Serves as a liaison to departments regarding human resource needs. Consults regarding departmental/employee issues and recommends solutions/resources. Monitors compliance. Provides recruitment and retention guidance. Cultivates organizational and community partnerships and interviews hire entry-level positions.
Duties/Physical Demands:
Serve as liaison to assigned departments for all human resource matters. Analyzes concerns, work collaboratively to resolve issues, and/or escalates as necessary.
Develops and maintains statistical data to track the progress of hire activity and employee movement. Interprets contract, University, and/or civil service language as it applies to recruitment or retention issues. Reviews and analyzes data ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Troubleshoots departmental or staff issues and recommends the appropriate course of action. Develops, owns, and works on special projects; serves on committees.
Collaborates regarding compensation needs. Assists/consults with Compensation Director surrounding employee job audits, internal equity, analyze data results, and makes appropriate recommendations.
Data inputs, reviews, and processes transactions in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and/or Human Resources Information System (HRIS) database. Assist departments in compiling and processing job postings, employee and position transactions, and job offers.
Ensures proper processing of new hire transactions, on-boarding, and the life-cycle of the new employees. May conduct exit interviews, compile statistics and collaborate with departments and make recommendations.
Responsible for proofing and auditing the payroll, monitoring data entry compliance, and resolving any discrepancies with compensation plans, union contracts, letters of offer, civil service guidelines, or Miami policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
For the Human Resources Generalist:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business
Administration, or closely related field, and a minimum of at least
one (1) year of Human Resources experience.
OR
- Five (5) years of Human Resources experience with at least three
(3) years at the Generalist level.
For the Sr Human Resources Generalist:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business
Administration, or closely related field, and a minimum of three
(3) years of Human Resources Generalist experience in more than one
(1) Human Resources functionality.
OR
- Seven (7) years of Human Resources experience with at least three
(3) years at the Generalist level with experience in more than one
(1) Human Resources functionality.
Desired Qualifications:
PHR, SHRM-CP; prior Accounting and Payroll Experience, Prior project management experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of related state and federal laws. Strong verbal and written communication skills, advanced level Excel skills. Ability to collaborate and problem-solve solutions. Proven analytical skills and attention to detail.
