Job Description

TMCC's Adult Basic Education Program is recruiting for part-time special education teachers to work with students who have a wide range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities. Teachers will adapt our English language learner or high school equivalency preparation curriculum and teach various subjects, such as reading, writing, and math, to students with mild and moderate disabilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Special Education or closely related field from an accredited institution.

Responsibilities:

1. Providing clear and appropriate individual and small-group instruction while adhering to prescribed curriculum and standards

2. Tutoring students with learning challenges

3. Administering assessments to Literacy-level students to determine appropriate interventions and strategies for instruction

4. Communicating and working cooperatively with colleagues on matters regarding course offerings, programs, and activities that enhance the development of the ABE program.

5. Meeting professional development requirements.

6. Attending faculty meetings.

Conditions of Employment

This is an on-going pool of qualified individuals interested in part-time, temporary non-tenure track instructional opportunities at Truckee Meadows Community College.

These opportunities are part-time only and will not be continued beyond the ending date. These opportunities may be terminated at will, at any time, for any reason, without notice; appointee has no appeal rights. Temporary assignments are not eligible for consideration for tenure as part of the assignment.
