William Jewell College invites applications for an Assistant
Professor of Accounting position. This is a full-time, tenure-track
position beginning August 2022, with rank depending on
qualifications. A Ph.D. or DBA is preferred and a CPA and MAcc or
MBA, with significant accounting experience, is required. The ideal
candidate is qualified to teach courses in tax, accounting
information systems, data analytics in accounting, cost accounting
or other accounting related courses. The successful applicant will
have a passion for undergraduate teaching, a desire to engage with
students, a research plan, and willingness to work as part of a
team. The Accounting program is strong with great connections to
the Kansas City accounting ecosystem. The candidate should be
willing to work with employers and professional accounting
organizations to find ways to further connect students to the
emerging trends in the field of accounting. William Jewell College
prides itself on being the critical thinking college and a
candidate should be able to envision their role in developing
critical thinking skills in the students with whom they
engage.
Qualifications:
- D. in Accounting or DBA in Accounting preferred; a CPA and MAcc/MBA and related experience required
- Ability to teach across the undergraduate accounting curriculum
- Ability to develop courses, curriculum and assess and evaluate
- Ability to engage undergraduate students in critical thinking development and career exploration
- Rank is dependent on academic credentials and academic experience
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teaching up to 24 contact hours per year
- Development of curriculum and assessment tools
- Develop a program of scholarly activity which can include consulting activity
- Service to the College and community including academic advising and involvement in college and departmental committees and activities
