This is a “sponsored program employee” position under the personnel policy of the University. Also, this position is funded through a grant and continued employment is contingent upon continued grant funding. FIPSE grant-funded.

JOB SUMMARY: Embedded in Athens Teaching & Learning Innovation Services (ATLIS), the primary mission of the ActiveFlex Technology Support & Course Development Specialist is to support instructors as they teach ActiveFlex courses at Athens State University. Funded through a 2-year grant from the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE), the ActiveFlex Technology Support Specialist works under the direction of the FIPSE PI and the Director of ATLIS to ensure consistent, effective operation of technology for ActiveFlex courses.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Support ActiveFlex classroom technologies and instruction
  • Ensure technology is operation prior to and during ActiveFlex instruction.
  • Assist faculty in selecting and connecting appropriate devices for use in instruction
  • Assist faculty in managing active learning processes using the ActiveFlex technology.
  • Assist online participants (faculty, guests, & students) with technology prior to and during ActiveFlex instruction.


2. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and fix ActiveFlex technology problems/issues
  • Provide timely assistance to faculty and students in trouble-shooting and fixing technology (hardware & software) issues associated with ActiveFlex courses.
  • Work with ATLIS staff to install and provide routine maintenance (change batteries, clean monitors, replace damaged technology, re-route wiring, etc.) of ActiveFlex technology
  • Identify potential technology needs and maintenance issues
3. Assist ActiveFlex Designer & ATLIS Staff in the development of ActiveFlex course materials
  • Assist in organizing course content & placement in Learning Management System
  • Assist in modifying learning content to meet Accessibility requirements
  • Assist in designing & developing graphic content and multimedia for courses
  • Assist in the reach of ActiveFlex principles and concepts
4. Assist in technology training & development for ActiveFlex Instructors & Students
  • Provide one on one technology training assistance to faculty
  • Assist in developing and delivering face to face and virtual technology workshops
  • Develop documentation & how-to guides and videos for faculty and students
5. Create and nurture a cooperative and collaborative atmosphere that emphasizes customer service and support.
  • Establish consistent expectations with all customers following established service protocols and timelines for efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Practice quality customer service in all interactions with the University community.
  • Work toward continuous improvement of the department through efficiency and end-user empowerment in support of the University mission.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing work scope and task based on needs.


Required Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in audiovisual and learning technologies
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong organization and multi-tasking skills.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to move up to 30 pounds
  • Frequently climb ladders, working in and around ceilings, floors, stages, and other areas, both indoors and outdoors
  • Must have full range of mobility in upper and lower body; be able to reach overhead; be able to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time; be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • 2 to 4 years’ experience in audiovisual and/or learning technologies in a corporate or academic setting.
  • Ability to clearly design and develop training materials and topics.


Salary Schedule:
Salary Band: P170
