Department Information
The Hispanic Serving Institutions Initiatives Departments serves to develop and implement programming appropriate to the HSI status of CSU Pueblo. HSI Programs are embedded in both the academic and student affairs functions of the university and are primarily grant funded with the purpose of increasing enrollment, retention, graduation, and career placement. HSI Programming resides in Organizational Development and Advancement and receives support and additional funding as part of Vision 2028 which is driven by the vision to “become the people’s university by 2028.”
Description of Job
The half-time (0.50 FTE) Coordinator of Ballet Folklorico and Cultural Programming will implement the operations of the Ballet Folklorico in addition to conducting outreach initiatives to the southern Colorado region regarding Hispanic culture and the importance of higher education. The Coordinator will conduct workshops on campus and in the community with the purpose of providing professional development to faculty and staff so as to increase awareness of the Hispanic culture, the historical relevance for the region, and the importance of understanding, celebrating, and navigating cultural differences in the southwest. The Coordinator will also teach credit bearing courses on the history of Ballet Folklorico and the contemporary status of the arts with special emphasis on the Hispanic cultural experience.
Primary Duties
- Implement the Ballet Folklorico Program Instruct beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels of dance for CSU Pueblo college students. Coordinate the usage of the dance and arts studio space. Collaborate with on and off campus constituents to arrange public performances that elevate the status of HSI programming at CSU Pueblo.
- Professional Development Conduct workshops on the cultural history of Ballet Folklorico and the arts for faculty, staff, and the community.
- Outreach Attend off-campus outreach events and conduct educational presentations in local educational institutions. Expand and elevate the presence of Ballet Folklorico and CSU Pueblo in the region and nationwide. Serve on various university committees.
- Supervise Student Employees Supervise student employees who are working to support the function of the program.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited four-year institution or minimum 5 years relevant professional experience
- Must have extensive knowledge of the technique, choreography and performance skills related to Ballet Folklorico.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment and with a diverse population of students
- Strong written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree from accredited institution in education, communications, psychology, business or social work
- Experience with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
