Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with companies that provide critical information technology products and services to Northern Arizona University. Manage and administer IT vendor relationships and contracts in order to achieve reduced costs, improve service levels, and negotiate terms and conditions of purchase for technology products and services.
This position will work closely with NAU ITS SPIES, NAU ITS Information Security Services, NAU ITS Service Desk and Technical Support Services, Contract and Risk Management, and Procurement. This position may occasionally work with University Counsel. Requires collaboration with in-state universities (Arizona State University and the University of Arizona) and other regional colleges and universities.
Responsibilities:
- Support software licensing in academic, research, and administrative areas.
- Creating and maintaining a software asset inventory.
- Recommending and implementing strategy for licensing models that result in cost recovery of licensing expenses.
- As appropriate, prepare RFIs and RFPs and participate in vendor selection processes.
- Soliciting quotes and proposals.
- Review quotes and proposals to ensure accuracy.
- Negotiating pricing and terms for cost reduction or cost avoidance.
- Negotiating terms and conditions for improved service levels and alignment with Northern Arizona University requirements.
- Managing contract renewals.
- Creating and maintaining a calendar of license expirations and contract renewals.
- Maintaining contacts with vendors and partners.
- Ensure vendors meet or exceed their contract obligations.
- Participating in problem management and incident management as needed when vendors and partners are involved to identify root causes of issues and expedite service restoration.
- Resolving discrepancies and disputes between NAU and technology vendors.
- Address client eligibility issues with the terms of a particular software agreement.
- Research and resolve questions related to vendor contracts and software licensing.
- Serve as liaison between Internet2 Net+ and Northern Arizona University.
- On-call duties may be required for this position.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related field; AND,
- 3-5 years of computing support or related experience; OR,
- A combination of related education, experience, and training.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field.
- Time management skills.

- Knowledge of Software Asset Management (ServiceNow SAM experience preferred).
- Knowledge of Application Portfolio Management (ServiceNow APM experience preferred).
- Knowledge of accessibility issues as they pertain to software licensing and vendor management.
- Knowledge of information security issues as they pertain to software licensing and vendor management.
- Familiarity with the Internet2 Net+ program preferred.
This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting.

Finally, each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.

SalaryCommensurate with experience.
**The starting salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected applicant balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
FLSA StatusThis position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.
BenefitsThis is a Classified Staff (CLS) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System; paid vacation and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified dependents.
