ENGLISH Creative Writing/Poetry. Elon University invites applications for a tenure-track poet at the assistant professor level, beginning mid-August 2022. 

 

Requirements: MFA or higher, an active record of publication in top-tier journals and/or presses, and a record of innovation and excellence in undergraduate teaching. We especially seek candidates with a teaching history that demonstrates an explicit engagement with, and commitment to, understanding experiences shaped by race, ethnicity, gender and sexuality, dis/ability, religion, and/or class.

 

A successful applicant will be prepared to teach the intermediate poetry course, as well as multi-genre introductory and upper-level creative writing courses, including the senior seminar. The applicant should also be equipped to teach first-year writing, literature, and/or interdisciplinary courses in the Elon Core Curriculum, and to mentor students pursuing creative thesis projects. The Creative Writing program at Elon is a tight-knit community. Applicants should be prepared to engage openly and frequently with students both in and out of the classroom.
