Suffolk University is pleased to announce a career opportunity as
an INTO Lecturer! The primary responsibilities of the part-time
INTO lecturer are to teach courses, develop lesson plans, and
integrate best practices for content learning with a diverse
population to ensure competence in English as a second language.
The INTO lecturer will teach Academic English courses per semester
in addition to completing administrative tasks and adhering to
course-specific guidelines that complement normal instructional
course responsibilities assigned by the university.
Primary/Principal Responsibilities:

- Teach Academic English course(s)
- Assess, grade and report on students enrolled in assigned Academic English courses.
- Prepare and teach lessons that actively engage students in English language learning
- Maintain daily attendance records.
- Communicate students’ academic performance on a regular basis including formal mid-term and final evaluation reports.
- Assist in the process of curriculum review and development
- Plan and implement placement testing for new student orientation. Deliver orientation sessions for both faculty and students, as needed.
- Participate in staff and faculty meetings
- Master’s in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or related area
- Three to five years of relevant teaching experience
- Strong computer skills including MS Office, Outlook, and Blackboard
- Knowledge of successful strategies for classroom management, especially in terms of linguistically and culturally diverse students
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Creativity and flexibility in the classroom is expected. Comfortable teaching a range of ESL levels with flexibility in accommodating students of different backgrounds.
