The Kogod School of Business, American University, invites applications and nominations for an open-rank tenure-track appointment with a specialization in sustainability as it pertains to business, to begin in Fall semester 2022. We welcome applications from experienced junior-level candidates to accomplished senior-level scholars. The ideal candidate should have (1) an earned doctorate in a business subfield (such as Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Management, Marketing) or a closely related non-business discipline with an emphasis in the study of sustainability, broadly construed; (2) a strong research program in sustainability (special consideration for research and/or teaching interest in focus areas such as diversity or analytics); (3) teaching excellence in sustainability and related courses at all levels, 4) collegiality, good citizenship, and commitment to serve the school. We are especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and/or service will contribute to the diversity and excellence of Kogod’s academic reputation.
    • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in one or more subfields of business or a closely related field
  • Strong commitment to high-quality research in sustainability as it impacts business practice. Exhibit a strong potential or successful track record to publish research in top-tier academic journals. A successful record or potential to receive external research grants is desirable.
  • Teaching interest in sustainability at undergraduate and graduate levels. The potential and/or a successful record in teaching relevant courses as demonstrated by strong student evaluations of teaching or other documented evidence.
  • Candidates seeking an appointment with tenure should have a demonstrated record of achievement, including high-quality scholarship, grants, outstanding teaching, and active engagement with academic and practice communities.
  • Secondary interest in topics such as Entrepreneurship, Analytics, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, are a plus.
Demonstrated collegiality, good citizenship, and professional background.
