The Department of Health Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment. Rank will be dependent on experience and stature in the field and the appointee to this position may be recommended for tenure at the time of hiring. The position will begin in August 2022.

The ideal candidate for this position will have earned a doctorate in public health or in a health-related field, while possessing in-depth knowledge in infectious disease or epidemiology. The Department is especially interested in candidates with expertise in health equity or community-based health. Applicant will have demonstrated the ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicant should have an active research agenda, a strong publication record in a health-related field, and a record of significant external grant funding, as well as be able to engage and strengthen our current research endeavors in the areas of health equity, community and global health, and other areas. Responsibilities will consist of conducting and publishing research, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, mentoring students, and participating in department, college, and university service activities. We seek applicants interested in joining the leadership team in the department.
