Summary/Objective

The Financial Operations Manager is responsible for oversight of procurement and contracting for goods and services within all Facilities Management functional groups. Develop financial models to track and predict spending trends, allowing budget managers to efficiently allocate funded resources. Supervises a staff of two full-time employees. Serves as the primary financial consultant for units within Energy Management, Facilities Operations, and Central Plant.

Essential Functions
  1. Manages the daily activity of 2 direct reports to achieve unit goals; reviews and approves financial transactions for accuracy; responsible for data conversion of labor, material, and contract expenditures from our departments Computerized Maintenance Management System into the university’s general ledger accounting system.
  2. Manages the daily activity of employees to achieve unit goals, including staffing, training, and other administrative management tasks.
  3. Reviews and approves financial transactions in the CMMS and Enterprise financial systems for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with department and university policies.
  4. Collects data and compiles reports to comply with regulatory and contractual requirements, as well as assisting the controllers’ office with year-end capital asset reporting and schedules; analyze and review internal financial statements for all facility units for tracking performance to external benchmarks and internal targets.
  5. Develops policies and procedures in order to improve departmental efficiency and/or service; performs needs assessment and coordinates group activity to review and improve departmental processes and procedures.
  6. Performs miscellaneous organizational tasks, such as maintaining financial files, generating correspondences, and distributing various operational information and schedules to unit managers.

Required Education and Experience
  • Associate's degree or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience


Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Demonstrate experience in budgeting, financial analysis/management or accounting.
  • Data analytic, ability to gather, analyze, and present financial information.
  • Working knowledge of general accounting principles and regulatory requirements related to financial management and reporting.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point software to develop briefings, presentations and reports and conduct data/financial analysis.
