Brief Summary of Work for this Position

The Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation/Competitive Sports. The Coordinator will assist with the overall planning, coordinating and assessment of a comprehensive Competitive Sports Program. Responsibilities include planning, assessing, and managing the day-to-day operations of the Sports Officials Development Program, assisting in the management and scheduling of the Intramural Sports Program, and serve as an advisor for select sport clubs within the Sport Club Program. The Coordinator also plans, assesses, and coordinates assigned Special Event and Extramural programs and handles various administrative tasks.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions
  • One (1) year of intramural programming experience
  • Supervisory or related transferable skills
  • Ability to delegate tasks as appropriate
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Master’s Degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Exercise Science/Physiology or related field
  • Graduate Assistant experience in collegiate recreation programming
  • Two (2) years of direct experience with:
    • Student personnel supervision at the collegiate recreation level
    • Implementation and management of Officials Training at the collegiate level
Required Certifications or Licensures

CERTIFICATIONS OR LICENSURE REQUIRED*:
  • American Red Cross Instructor training for First Aid, CPR / AED, Blood borne Pathogen.
  • American Red Cross CPR / AED /First Aid Certification

The Department of Campus Recreation organizes and administers a variety of structured and self-directed recreational services that enhance the overall wellness of the university community. Our primary goal is to provide quality recreational experiences directed toward positive change in the physical, cognitive and social domains of the university community thus enhancing the overall educational experience. This goal is accomplished by offering a wide variety of recreational activities, conducting educational workshops and providing professional training. The Department of Campus Recreation provides a multi-faceted program, which includes: Group Exercise/Fitness Programs, Competitive Sports (Intramural Sports and Sport Clubs) Seahawk Adventure Programs, Aquatics, and Special Events. Campus Recreation at UNCW takes a “something for everyone” approach to programming.
