Reporting to the President and CEO, the Vice President, Academic (VPA) is the Chief Academic Officer for the institution, responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to the academic portfolio and related leadership initiatives. The VPA will champion academic excellence in teaching and learning, applied research, innovation, and the integration of academic and non-academic services to support learners, while advancing the broader mission, strategies and goals of NAIT. As a key member of the NAIT’s executive team, the VPA models NAIT’s leadership competencies and practices the NAIT’s values of respect, accountability, collaboration, celebration, creativity, and adaptability.
The successful candidate will have a graduate degree combined with significant experience in a senior leadership role within a post-secondary setting. In addition, the next VPA will have proven ability to encourage innovation, integration and collaboration which are essential to participate in the continued development and implementation of NAIT’s academic model. Bringing a track record of effective communication, collegiality and advocacy, the successful candidate will be a strategic forward-thinking leader with operational acumen and an appreciation for the overall learner experience. Lastly, the VPA must be committed to the polytechnical institute concept and passionate about the role NAIT plays in the lives of its communities and residents.
