Library Assistant IV/Circulation Manager
Hours Per Week
The Circulation Manager provides front line management of
circulation services and supervision of staff in a team-based
environment by coordinating the provision of excellent circulation
services to all library users, working under indirect supervision
of the Director. This individual oversees management and
supervision of Circulation and Reserve services, including
operation and manipulation of automated circulation functions and
liaison with Systems staff; patron assistance, collection of fines
and other monies, shelving materials, training and supervision of
student assistants, and monitoring patrons and building security.
This person prepares routine reports, gathers statistics, and
completes other projects as needed and recommends, documents, and
communicates library policies and procedures. As a manager, this
person works collaboratively with a counterpart on the Atlanta
campus and is expected to take initiative on solving problems and
using their own judgment and knowledge.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and at least
two years of directly related library experience OR an
equivalent combination of education and directly related
experience, with at least two years of library experience, are
required. In addition, previous work experience in a technology
rich environment is essential.
The successful candidate must have analytical and writing skills
for reviewing data, writing reports, establishing plans, and
implementing projects. Must have advanced knowledge of MS Office
Suite software to effectively produce reports and documents. Must
have the ability to supervise and provide effective leadership in a
team environment that encourages collegiality, excellent public
service, and staff development. Additionally, the successful
candidate must be able to perform all circulation desk functions
and have the ability to provide effective training for others in
