Working independently under general supervision of the Manager of
Administrative Services, this position performs a full range of
moderately complex clerical and administrative support duties for
Facilities Management Services ( FMS ). Day-to-day duties include
assisting with event support, website updating, reception support,
and general front office/management support.
Facilities Management and Services ( FMS ) is a large, complex
department consisting of approximately 200 employees working
various shifts and providing diverse administrative and operational
services campus wide.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Incumbent must possess:
Thorough knowledge of:
- English grammar, punctuation and spelling.
- Office methods, procedures and practices.
Fluency in using standard office equipment (computers, copiers,
phones) and standard office software packages such as, Microsoft
Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and related computer software
General working knowledge of applicable University infrastructure,
policies, and procedures.
Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures.
Incumbent must possess:
- Active problem solving and effective interpersonal skills as
work often involves frontline contacts with a variety of campus and
- Demonstrated competence in understanding, interpreting, and
communicating procedures, policies, information, ideas, and
- Demonstrated competence in effectively presenting standard
information in writing.

Incumbent must have the ability to:
- Learn, independently interpret, and apply a wide variety of
complex policies and procedures, and be able to identify deviations
from applicable policies.

and, at times, creative solutions.
- Respond to routine inquiries and explain standard policies and
procedures to others.
- Identify and solve standard problems where policy and
procedures are referenced and refer more complex problems to

nature, including tracking and comparing data.
- Use standard office equipment as well as quickly learn to use
new office support technology systems and software packages.

Required Education and/or Experience
This position requires experience to be proficient in performing
most or all work assignments and should include administrative
support, coordinating and prioritizing many different clerical
tasks, applying and communicating policies and procedures. These
qualifications, and those listed above, would normally be obtained
through completion of a high school program or its equivalent and
two years recent experience in an office environment.
Additional Requirements for this Position
Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they
may be considered specialized skills:
- Two years of experience in an office environment.
- Experience working with a Computerized Maintenance Management
System (Work Order System) such as WebTMA.
- Willingness to adjust to change, demonstrates flexibility and
patience with changing expectations (e.g. technology,
responsibilities and assignments).
- Communicate effectively in person, on the telephone, and in

leave, vacation, health insurance). Eligibility for standard CSU
benefits is based on an appointment of half-time or more for a
period exceeding six months. Employees appointed less than
half-time or less than six months are not eligible for standard CSU
benefits but do receive prorated sick leave and vacation.
Eligibility for Affordable Care Act ( ACA ) benefits is based on an
appointment of at least three-quarter time, hired to work a minimum
of 130 hours per month over the course of the appointment or works
an average of 130 hours or more per month during the measurement
period. The ACA guidelines provide for health coverage or FlexCash
only. ACA does not provide dental or vision plan coverage.
