SENIOR ASSISTANT TO THE DEAN (Administrative Analyst/Specialist

Under general oversight from the College Dean, this position
administers the financial and personnel resources of the College of
Agriculture ( COA ) consisting of 4 major disciplines and includes
the University Farm and 4 units (Dean’s Office, Academic
Instruction, Student Success, and External Relations/Advancement)
within the college with approximately 156 faculty, staff and
student employees and a complex state budget of approximately
$4,175,000 annually. Additionally this position is responsible for
administering several University Foundation budgets consisting of
annual funds, endowment spending accounts, and multiple program
and/or project budgets totaling approximately $1,00,000 annually.
The incumbent works closely with the Dean, Associate Dean, Program
Coordinator (PC) and Farm Administrator to align resources with the
College’s strategic and operational goals and to ensure the college
is compliant with Federal, State, System and institutional policies
and procedures for fiscal and personnel actions. This position
oversees budget allocations for 4 campus units, plus the University
Farm, within the College of Agriculture, participates in strategic
planning for the college, and is expected to take initiative, work
independently and be accountable for work results in planning,
organizing, analyzing and reporting. Additionally, this position
works collaboratively with managers and staff in the Divisions of
Academic Affairs, Business and Finance, Regional and Continuing
Education, Human Resources, Information Resources, University
Advancement, Student Affairs, Public Affairs, and Auxiliary
Organizations to advance the interests of the College.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Incumbent must possess:
- Thorough knowledge of, and ability to apply, extensive
expertise to complex programs and/or administrative specialties,
including pertinent laws and regulations.
- Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside
regulations pertaining to the applicable program and/or

Working knowledge of:

Required Education and/or Experience
The knowledge, skills and abilities listed above would normally be
obtained through a bachelor’s degree and/or full-time equivalent
training and three years of administrative work experience
involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the
development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures,
practices or programs.
Additional Requirements for this Position
Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they
may be considered specialized skills:
- Applicants with a minimum of two years full-time related
- Experience administering an organizational unit at the

- Knowledge of university policies and procedures including the
collective bargaining agreements, the Faculty Personnel Policies
and Procedures ( FPPP ), faculty and staff recruitment, curriculum,
scheduling, payroll, and RTP .
- Experience using PeopleSoft, CDD .net, Insight, CRA and

Incumbent/applicant will need to be able to perform the essential
job functions (duties) of this position with or without reasonable
