Tarleton State University  invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured Associate Professor of Criminal Justice position to begin fall 2022 at Fort Worth Campus.


Job Description

Primarily responsible for the teaching/learning process and will also participate in the necessary operations of the institution


-30% Teaching: Teach a 2/2 load in the course of the 9 month contract teaching in the Ph.D. program; Develop, implement and review effective teaching/learning processes, incorporating appropriate methodology, technology and other tools; Remain current in discipline and update course content when appropriate to reflect current levels of student knowledge in the discipline; Develop a system for ongoing evaluation of both teaching and learning, including expectations of student competency and student learning outcomes; Work in partnership with immediate supervisor through a formal system of evaluation of instruction to identify strengths and weaknesses and identify professional development activities to improve student learning.
-40% Research: Contribute research and scholarly activity within the discipline in the form of professional presentations and publications.
-30% Service: Maintain appropriate schedule of office hours for student access and inquiry; Work in partnership with student success personnel on student advising and orientation. Participate in institutional service roles such as but not limited to, college committees, club sponsorship, advisory committees, student/faculty recruitment and mentoring of new and part-time faculty.

Education and Experience:
-A Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or closely-related discipline from an accredited University and recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as appropriate to the academic area they serve and have completed at least four years of experience in the rank of Assistant Professor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Demonstrated ability in the discipline and show clear promise of teaching excellence as evidenced in evaluation by peers, department head, and college dean. Demonstrated continuing scholarly contribution beyond that required for completion of the terminal degree. Documented yearly progress of professional achievement in teaching, scholarship, and service.

Other Requirements:

Preference will be given to candidates who can teach advanced statistics courses.
