Description/Job Summary

Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Director of Admissions and Recruitment is responsible for the successful execution of a comprehensive recruitment and retention plan utilizing a data-driven/informed approach to decision-making. The director is of high moral character and integrity, possesses a collaborative approach to their work, and encourages innovative thought and action in their leadership of admissions and recruitment efforts at Baltimore City Community College.

  • Provides vision, leadership and direction to the staff and manages the daily operations within Admissions, Recruitment, International Students, and Veteran Affairs
  • Provides expert deployment of the Customer Relationship Management System (CRM), and guides staff in effectively and efficiently utilizing CRM technology to meet enrollment goals and objectives
  • Demonstrates expert use of data from national, state-wide, local and institutional sources in the development of a comprehensive recruitment plan that ensures maximum application yield of students within expanded demographic populations
  • Manages the assigned budget for respective areas of responsibility
  • Develops, implements and supports an orientation program that is grounded in best practice
  • Works collaboratively with Marketing and Communications to identify new markets, increase inquiries, applications and conversion rates of confirmations
  • Identifies and cultivates authentic relationships with community leaders such as those from religious/spiritual organizations, community centers, local business leaders, and community organizers, etc
  • Develops a series of high school and middle school visitation days and early intervention programs, focused on enhancing soft skills and cultivating a pipeline of future BCCC students
  • Represents the college on school district committees and councils as appropriate, and works collaboratively with instruction on joint college and school district evaluation and assessment/placement activities
  • Works closely with various cross-functional teams to plan outreach activities and provide accommodations for student with special needs as appropriate
  • Oversees staff hiring, training, professional development, and performance management processes
  • Remains current on industry best-practices by attending workshops, conferences, meetings, maintaining appropriate memberships and other professional development opportunities

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college/university


  • Progressively responsible years of successful experience in Admissions or Recruitment in higher education or closely related discipline/field.
  • Progressively responsible years of successful experience supervising staff and developing teams.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with CRM technology, LMS technology, Early Alert/Warning technology, MS Office Suite applications in general, with specific expertise in MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience utilizing student success/retention theories to improve student outcomes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience deploying various marketing strategies to increase new markets, improve prospect inquiries, applications and conversions to confirmations.
  • Demonstrated success with reducing application processing times.
Preferred Qualifications


  • Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited college/university in higher education administration, student personnel administration, marketing, or closely related field.


  • Demonstrated experience using Ellucian Banner and/or Ellucian Colleague Recruit.
