Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities
The VCU School of Education invites candidates for the Undergraduate Recruitment Coordinator position. This position will establish relationships with students, parents, counselors who have shown interest in learning more about the undergraduate program in the School of Education. This position will coordinate the development of new recruitment strategies to build new markets to identify and attract potential students, establish relationships with schools in and around Virginia where VCU is currently underrepresented, and represent the school at special events such as open houses and conferences. They will also coordinate and conduct open houses, information sessions, interviews, and counseling sessions with prospective students and their parents to provide information about the school, admissions processes, and university policies and procedures. This position routinely interfaces with University officials on admissions/recruitment issues, evaluates data and applicant credentials for admission and counsels prospective students on their admissibility, handles assignments timely and makes decisions independently with minimal guidance from supervisor. Minimum Hiring Standards
-3 or more years of relevant experience in recruitment of diverse candidate populations or in student affairs
-Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, psychology or related field
-Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
-Considerable experience working with database, word processing, and graphics software, including creating surveys and analyze survey results (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Publisher)
-Responsible, mature, self-starter with sound judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive/confidential matters
-Demonstrated commitment to foster a diverse and inclusive environment as a staff employee/team member of the School of Education and at VCU Preferred Hiring Standards
-Extensive knowledge of admissions/recruitment procedures
-Experience in special event and project planning, and excellent public interaction service skills
-Demonstrated excellence in public contact and customer service
-Experience using social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc) as a marketing tool
-Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
-Strong comfort level with delivering presentations to large groups of people
-Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
-Excellent critical thinking skills
-Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks
-Experiential learning through lived experiences and/or professional services that inform worldviews and/or perspectives about minority group status, to include race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion and disability
-Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse and inclusive environment
