Position Summary and Responsibilities
The Media Coordinator provides audio-visual technical support to the Vassar community. This position operates under the supervision of the Associate Director of User Services to support the use of classroom and conference room A/V technologies, media duplication services, web-casting, live audio mixing, video conferencing, and day-to-day operations of equipment inventory. The Media Coordinator manages and/or trains student employees who staff applicable events and on loaner equipment checkout procedures. The Media Coordinator also troubleshoots technical issues relating to classrooms and meeting spaces on campus when needed. Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the operation, maintenance, storage, troubleshooting of sophisticated professional equipment (projectors, cameras, sound recorders, speakers, and other equipment);
  • Provide support and maintenance of all a/v enhanced classrooms and meeting spaces crucial to academic courses and administrative meetings, (a/v stockroom, live recording space, and other spaces), including keeping equipment inventoried and in its place;
  • Support the development, implementation, and oversight of best practices for inventory management, and equipment checkout procedures, weekly schedule updating;
  • Provide training of students on industry-standard equipment for classroom instruction/event support and loan;
  • Perform basic repairs and/or facilitating the repair of equipment with outside vendors;
  • Provide work direction to student workers who check in and check out equipment in the stockroom;
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Experience in an audio-visual/event support environment;
  • Must be familiar with analog and digital a/v equipment, control systems, event scheduling software, and video editing software;
  • Advanced computer-based skills are required using PC and Macintosh computers;
  • Ability to understand blue-prints and a/v line drawings highly desirable;
  • Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment, mentor, train, and support students in the use of specialized equipment and software;
  • Must have the ability to learn new skills required to keep current with ever-changing technology;
  • Must have excellent communication skills interacting with faculty, students, staff, and outside service providers and vendors;
  • Must work well under pressure and be able to fabricate alternative options to ensure successful class/event support;
  • Requires excellent organization skills;
  • A/V event planning experience highly desirable;
  • Must be willing and able to adjust work schedule to accommodate weekend and evening support for campus classes/events as needed and move, position and place equipment as necessary.
