The College of Education, Leadership Studies, and Counseling at the University of Lynchburg invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Special Education, beginning August 2022.

 

We seek a colleague who is committed to excellence in teaching, supervision, and the continuous improvement of our program. We are seeking candidates with experience and knowledge in teaching students with low-incidence or high-incidence disabilities.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate coursework in the field of special education
  • Advise undergraduate and graduate special education students
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team
  • Provide support in making sure our program meets all state requirements and CAEP accreditation
  • Participate in program, college, and university-wide committees
  • Ability to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community
  • Participate in community networking, public relations, and recruitment
  • Other duties include student advising, scholarly activity and service to the campus and community

 

Required Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate in Special Education or closely related field
  • Experience teaching in a K-12 classroom
  • Knowledge of theory and practice of special education
  • Experience with online instruction (synchronous and asynchronous methodologies);
  • Evidence of potential for scholarly productivity
  • Knowledge of inclusion, collaboration, assessment, and evidence-based instructional practices
  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching at the college of university level
  • Experience working with students who have low-incidence is highly preferred
  • Experience in advising undergraduate and graduate level students
  • Experience with program assessment and accreditation
