The College of Education, Leadership Studies, and Counseling at the University of Lynchburg invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Leadership Studies, beginning August 2022. 

 

We seek a colleague who is committed to excellence in teaching, supervision, and the continuous improvement of our program. We are seeking candidates with experience and knowledge in teaching students with low-incidence or high-incidence disabilities.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Teach graduate courses focusing on preparing individuals for leadership positions in both the PK-12 setting and in higher education
  • Advise graduate program students
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team
  • Provide support in making sure our program meets all state requirements and CAEP accreditation
  • Support candidates through the Dissertation process, by serving as a committee member and/or committee chair on graduate student dissertation committees
  • Participate in program, college, and university-wide committees
  • Ability to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community 
  • Participate in community networking, public relations, and recruitment
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships within area school divisions
  • Other duties include student advising, scholarly activity and service to the campus and community

 

Required Qualifications:  

  • An earned doctorate degree in educational leadership, leadership studies, or closely related field
  • A minimum of three years teaching experience in a K-12 public school
  • A minimum of three years as a K-12 public school administrator, school division executive leader, or public school superintendent 
  • Experience with online instruction (synchronous and asynchronous methodologies)
  • Evidence of potential for scholarly productivity
  • Knowledge of inclusion, collaboration, assessment, and evidence-based instructional practices
  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience teaching at the college or university level
  • Experience in advising graduate-level students
  • Experience with program assessment and accreditation
  • Experience teaching graduate courses in administration and supervision
