The University of Lynchburg, a private regional university located in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in central Virginia, is accepting applications for a tenure-track full-time assistant professor position in the College of Health Sciences’ Master of Public Program and Health Promotion Department beginning January 3, 2022.

The successful applicant must be willing to strive for teaching excellence, experiment with new pedagogies, and collaborate with colleagues from diverse disciplines in support of the institution’s liberal arts mission.  An earned terminal academic degree (PhD, EdD, or equivalent) in Public Health, Health Promotion, Health Education, or closely related area of study is required. Additionally, the candidate must have current CHES/MCHES certification or commitment to obtain CHES/MCHES certification within the first year of hire. Candidates nearing completion of the required terminal degree (ABD status) will be considered. 

The candidate should be able to teach in a variety of subject areas in Health Promotion and Public Health as well as develop new courses that align with the responsibilities and competencies for Health Education Specialists, the Competency-Based Framework for MPH Health Educators, the Association of Schools of Public Health, and the Council of Linkages between Academic and Public Health Practice. A strong research agenda that complements the current faculty, experience with grant writing, and evidence of community involvement is desired. The selected candidate must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the University.
