The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), part of the State University of New York and an internationally renowned college of art, design, business and technology with a strong emphasis on liberal arts, invites applications for a Temporary Full Time Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse in Health Services.


Job Description:

Reports to the Director of Health Services, demonstrate clinical judgment and skills in the full range of functions of a registered professional nurse. Identifies and provides nursing diagnoses and treatment for actual or potential health problems through utilization of the nursing process.

  • Provides nursing care for ambulatory clients.
  • Triage/assess patients including crisis intervention, acute medical/surgical complaints and women's health and refers patients appropriately.
  • Implements Health Service projects, guidelines and responsibilities as outlined by the Director of Health Services.
  • Participates in patient counseling and outreach programs.
  • Coordinates care for patients with medical, surgical, women's health and emotional problems.
  • Administers appropriate medications and treatments as prescribed by Health Services providers.
  • Engages in periodic self-evaluation, participates in peer review and quality assurance.
  • Provides health education.
  • Responsible for lab documentation.
  • Responsible for medical and pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned. 



  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred and Current New York State Registered Nurse license required
  • Minimum 3 years recent medical/surgical experience required (including ambulatory care, emergency room triage, or occupational nursing) required.
  • Knowledge of basic life support CPR/AED certification and defibrillation required.

Additional Information:

Work Schedule subject to change based on department needs. 

This position will end on or around June 30, 2022. 

Salary range $80,000- $95,000 depending on qualifications and experience. 

This is an in-person position
