General Summary
Position:
Artist Teacher of Violin, full-time, nine-month, tenure-track
Duties:
Teach undergraduate and graduate applied violin; teach violin
pedagogy and literature; supervise students in the String Pedagogy
master’s program; serve as a faculty teaching mentor in the ISU
String Project; and coach chamber ensembles. In addition, the
successful candidate will rehearse and perform with the Faculty
String Quartet and other faculty ensembles as assigned, serve on
selected committees, perform as a soloist both on- and off-campus,
and may be assigned other duties based on individual strengths and
the needs of the School of Music. The active recruitment and
retention of violin students to develop and maintain an applied
studio of distinction is an essential role of this position. A
commitment to teaching and performing diverse repertoires and to
fostering an inclusive learning environment is expected.
Qualifications:
A doctorate in violin performance or a closely related field. ABD
will be considered, although a doctorate is required for tenure.
Successful teaching experience at the collegiate level is required.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate oral proficiency in the
English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by
state law.
Rank, Salary, and Benefits:
Assistant or Associate Professor. A doctorate is required for
tenure, although professional equivalency may be considered. Salary
based upon qualifications and experience. Benefits include
retirement, health, dental, and eye-care insurance.
