The Department of Biology at Providence College in Providence, RI invites applications for a tenure-track position in neuroscience at the Assistant Professor level, beginning August 1, 2022. The area of specialization can be cellular, molecular or organismal neuroscience. Essential Duties
The successful candidate should be able to teach the following courses: Neurobiology, Introduction to Neuroscience, and a course or courses in their specialty area. Preference will be given to candidates who can also teach either Anatomy and/or Physiology. The department offers a certificate in neuroscience currently with ~50 students that is jointly administered with the Department of Psychology. Education and Experience Required
We seek candidates with a Ph.D. in neuroscience or a related field. The candidate should be dedicated to excellent, inclusive undergraduate teaching and plan to maintain an active research program that engages motivated undergraduates in their research.
The department has outstanding teaching and research facilities including an animal facility for housing rodents (equipped with a modern surgical suite and ample testing space), dedicated wet labs for student/faculty research, and human subject research space.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- Earned doctorate in neuroscience, biology or related field
- Record of scholarly productivity
- Commitment to inclusive pedagogy, diversity, and equity
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- Successful teaching experience in higher education, including development of inclusive pedagogy
- Demonstrated success engaging undergraduates in research
