We are seeking well-trained computer scientists who can rigorously apply AI&AS techniques and principles to areas such as social media algorithms, robotics, computer sensing and vision, autonomous systems and vehicles, automobile cybersecurity, blockchain technology, computational biology, genomics, and bioinformatics.

One of our strategic goals is to grow and expand the existing programs in the college significantly over the coming years. Research funding is expanding rapidly and the department is a leader in collaborative interactions with faculty from other disciplines.

Applicants must hold an earned doctorate in computer science or a closely related field with expertise in AI&AS and one of the aforementioned areas of study and strong coding skills. Postdoctoral experience is strongly desired. Successful candidates must have a record of high-quality scholarship and demonstrate the potential in both research and teaching, commensurate with their experience. Successful candidates will possess a record of, or genuine commitment to, diversity, inclusion, and equity in line with the college’s overall vision. All candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills, the potential to establish an externally-funded research program in an area of expertise, work in a collaborative environment, and the motivation to support the student-centered culture of LTU.

Roles and responsibilities

The successful candidate is required to teach graduate and undergraduate courses as assigned, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and establish a strong, externally-funded research program in his/her area of expertise. In addition, the successful candidate will also contribute to the department, college, and university functions. Because this position is in a cutting-edge discipline, the successful candidate is required to work in a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative environment across departments and colleges.
