Assistant Professor

Department of Public Administration

The Department of Public Administration at Louisiana State University (LSU) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level, to begin in August 2022. The successful applicant will have a strong commitment to research and teaching with an active research agenda. Candidates should be prepared to teach theory and methods courses (in-person and online) in public administration and policy.

Required Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in public administration, public policy, or a closely related field (e.g., economics, political science) by August 2022.

LSU is Louisiana’s flagship university and an R1 Carnegie Classification research institution. It is a land-, sea-, and space-grant university with a main campus in Baton Rouge, the state capital. The Department of Public Administration offers a Master of Public Administration degree and strives to prepare talented and diverse MPA students to lead public, nonprofit, and private sector organizations. The department is deeply committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion at the community, student, and faculty levels.

The faculty teaching load is two courses per semester (four courses per year) and involves teaching in-person and online. Research expectations are in line with the demands of a flagship university and peer institutions. Salary, benefits, start-up equipment (hardware and software), and summer research assistance are competitive.

Review of applications will begin on October 25, 2021 and continue until an applicant is selected. Applicants should submit the following materials through LSU’s online application system (internal applicants can apply here): (1) letter of interest; (2) curriculum vitae; (3) one to three representative publications or working papers; (4) teaching evaluations (if available); (5) contact information for three professional references.

Questions concerning the announcement should be directed to the chair of the search committee, Dr. Suzette Caleo (scaleo@lsu.edu).
