Tenure-Eligible and Non-Tenured DPT Faculty Positions Availabile
Physical Therapy Doctoral Program

Whitworth University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy Program invites applications and nominations for two 12-month tenure-track or non-tenure-track faculty positions to join its founding DPT faculty in July 2022. Our program team is preparing to apply for candidacy to CAPTE in December 2021, and finalizing an innovative learner-centered curriculum design, rich in evidence-based practice, interprofessional learning experiences and community clinical partnerships. The program will prepare DPT graduates with the leadership, professional and clinical competencies, and moral courage to collaboratively lead health teams and be effective movement system experts in the promotion of health of individuals, communities, and our diverse society. The selected candidates will join a group of core faculty members in July 2022 whose collective expertise will comprise needed DPT curriculum content areas. Faculty will engage in scholarly opportunities that contribute to the advancement of the profession and create innovative learner-centered delivery models that provide education excellence and meet national accreditation standards for Doctor of Physical Therapy education. The University is expanding its graduate health program portfolio, investing in a new, state of the art building to house teaching and research and includes a motion analysis research lab, exercise physiology lab, anatomy lab, simulation labs, and dedicated classroom and functional lab spaces to support the unique needs of each of its health programs. The new facilities will reflect the institutional commitments to quality, faculty, student and staff support, accessibility, and environmental sustainability.

  • Possess a PT degree and an academic doctoral degree (PhD, DSc, DHS, EdD), and/or a DPT degree and an APTA board certified clinical specialization with a minimum of 4 yrs. of clinical experience, 3 yrs. of clinical teaching experience preferred (CI, SCCE) and willingness to pursue an academic doctoral degree within 2 yrs. of hire where needed. Other professional/academic degrees necessary for program success and accreditation may be considered.
  • Be eligible for Washington state PT licensure.
  • Demonstrate expertise in graduate foundational sciences, including anatomy and neuroscience, in leadership and business management, and/or demonstrate clinical management expertise in the specialties areas of practice including pediatrics, neurorehabilitation, oncology, clinical electrophysiology, and/or pelvic health.
  • Be engaged in a scholarship agenda appropriate to rank and Whitworth’s expectations for faculty to pursue a variety of modes of scholarship ranging among discovery, synthesis, application, and teaching.
  • Lead and contribute to a collaborative, dynamic, mission driven faculty team interested in advancing physical therapist education, research and practice within the Whitworth Mission and Vision.
  • Teach, advise, pursue scholarship, serve university and community, and offer clinical mentoring/practice within our planned interprofessional offerings/programs.
  • A personal commitment to the Christian faith and to the integration of faith and learning.
  • PT/DPT degrees preferred.
