Reports to: Dean, School of Arts & Humanities

Status: Exempt

Purpose: Responsible for all aspects of the band program, including recruiting and retaining student musicians. Duties:

  • Recruit, develop, and direct University Band
  • Develop relationships with area high school band directors and work with admissions staff to identify and recruit quality musicians (majors, minors, and non-majors) to the program
  • Work closely with private lesson instructors to grow lesson studio
  • Direct the band in on-campus performances for special events such as Commencement, concerts, sporting events, etc., and off-campus events such as parades and community concerts.
  • Develop and implement on-campus recruitment initiatives
  • Coordinate with Athletics and Student Life as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Contributes to team effort by welcoming new and different work requirements; exploring new opportunities to enhance the services of the division; helping others accomplish related job results as and where needed.

Education: Bachelors degree Experience: 3 years of relevant experience Specialized Training: Proficient in use of Microsoft Office programs (can also include licenses, certificates, drivers license, etc)

  • Multiple service hours; computer data input; multiple concurrent tasks with service interruptions; extensive customer contact; strict confidentiality; detailed work.
