HIRING FOR COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES DEAN AND 52 OTHER POSITIONS

Illinois State University welcomes its 20th president, Dr. Terri Goss Kinzy, as she leads the university to educate, connect, and elevate students, faculty, and staff as we live our core values: learning and scholarship, diversity and inclusion, respect, collaboration, individualized attention, civic engagement, and integrity.

ISU maintains stable enrollments above 20,000 students and has recently added programs in Cybersecurity, Computer Systems Technology, Creative Technologies (including a Game Design Sequence), and Interdisciplinary Technologies. New master’s programs include Low Vision and Blindness, Nutrition, Bilingual/ESL, and a 4+1 degree in English Education. Ph.D. study includes a new program in Leadership, Equity, and Inquiry in Educational Administration, as well as Biological Sciences, Math Education, School Psychology, English Studies, and doctoral study now includes Nursing and Nursing Practice, several Ed.D. degrees, and Audiology.

This year, ISU submitted a proposal for a College of Engineering to the Illinois Board of Higher Education. The campus has a new Nursing Simulation Lab, a newly renovated student center, and a $62 million renovation planned for the fine arts complex.

ISU is a Carnegie Foundation Elective Community Engagement University, a School of National Service, and a Military Friendly School. Of the enrollment, 27% of our students come from underrepresented groups, and we have a strong commitment to educating international students. Our retention rate is 84%, and our graduation rate of 68% is 5% higher than the national average. Additionally, our recently concluded capital campaign helped us build our endowment to $202.1 million.

ILLINOIS STATE UNIVERSITY IS SEARCHING FOR A DEAN IN THE COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES.

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is searching for a dean with a strong commitment to liberal arts education; diversity, equity, and inclusion; faculty research; student success, and fundraising. With 16 departments and 14 interdisciplinary minors, CAS is the largest college at ISU, enrolling approximately 6,000 students and employing more than 300 tenure-line faculty. In recent years, approximately 25% of peer-reviewed CAS journal articles have included one or more students on the research team. In 2020 alone, CAS researchers were awarded $5.4 million in grants. The college hosts two radio stations, a television station, several prestigious journals, and trains more middle-level and high school teachers than any other school in Illinois.
