Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary: $5,351 per month

Full classification Salary Range: $5,351 - $7,633 per month

  • This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.


The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 14 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships, the Assistant Director will contribute to student success by managing the customer/student service areas of the Financial Aid and Scholarships office, which include the Student Center windows, Phone Center, outreach, website and social media to provide information and guidance to students and parents. Additionally, this position serves as the liaison between Financial Aid and Student Accounts, working closely with them to resolve account issues.

This is a full-time exempt position where at times there will be an expectation to work more than a 40-hour work week. This position is designated as a security-sensitive position and must successfully complete a background check. The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements as a condition of employment.

Key Qualifications

  • General knowledge of the principles, problems and methods of administration, including organizational, personnel and fiscal management;
  • Ability to carry out very complex assignments without detailed instructions, and apply effective problem-solving skills demonstrating sound judgment;
  • Work effectively in a team-based environment with flexibility to adjust priorities quickly;
  • Ability to assess, present and evaluate training needs to meet organizational goals;
  • General knowledge of advanced statistical or research methods to collect and analyze data for data driven decisions

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Equivalent to 4 years of professional experience in advising, counseling or guiding students in financial aid or closely related field
  • Strong background in customer service




Department Summary

The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships supports the University by administering and/or coordinating all student financial aid programs at California State University, Fresno. The office is responsible for administering federal, state, institutional, and scholarship aid in excess for $250,000,000 annually to approximately 80% of the student
