Department Summary
The Institute of Ecology and Evolution (IE²) facilitates research and graduate education in ecology and evolutionary biology. The institute fosters a collegial and stimulating intellectual environment for world-class research in molecular evolution, evolutionary genetics, evolution of development, and microbial, population, community, and ecosystems ecology.

Position Summary
IE² at the University of Oregon is soliciting applications for its open applicant pool. Positions are limited duration, funding contingent post-doc or research appointments that are part time or short term, contracts not to exceed one year. Possibility of renewal up to a total of three years, depending on program needs, funding, and performance. The successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds.

Examples include research assistants, scientists, engineers, or research associates, professors, or principal research scientists. Postdoctoral fellows will also be considered for positions providing additional training. Research assistants, engineers, and scientists conduct research under the direction of a principal investigator; postdoctoral researchers conduct research under the direction of a faculty member for the purpose of acquiring research training; research associates conduct research with only general guidance. Research Professors and Principal Scientists will have independent funding for their position.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in biology or related area required for research assistant, research scientist, and research engineer positions; Research Engineers and Scientists are distinguished by a technical skillset relevant to the position. Ph.D. required for research associate, research scientist, and research professor positions. Postdoctoral positions require a Ph.D., are designed for further training, and will have a formal mentor plan.
