This position reports to University Marketing and supports the branding and graphic design needs for the university; especially, works as the marketing liaison with NAU President’s Office to provide branding consultation and design support for presidential communication needs.

As part of a highly collaborative team, the Assistant Manager, Graphic Design is responsible for:

  • Leading and managing graphic design projects for NAU’s President’s Office to ensure timely completion of objectives, and appropriate representation of the NAU brand.
  • Leading design effort for high profile marketing projects and providing design direction for the assigned graphic designers to ensure the delivery of consistent quality that aligns with the university’s brand standards and communicates effectively with various target audiences.
  • Managing and leading other design projects as assigned.
  • Collaborating with other Design team leads to ensure design excellence reflected in all projects the team handles.
  • Collaborating with other Design team leads to maintain the university’s visual identity system and standards; consulting with internal and external organizations to ensure adherence to these standards; and managing training opportunities for internal and external units.
  • Collaborating with other Design team leads to track and identify ways to streamline and measure team productivity and improve outcomes.
  • Coordinating with and managing freelance contributors as needed to ensure project completion, including providing project instructions and specifications, monitoring jobs in progress, resolving technical problems, proofing material for adherence to specifications and quality standards, and ensuring deadlines and quality expectations are met.
  • Maintaining accurate records of projects’ design hours in WorkFront (the department’s project management software system) to track and report design time and progress, provide updates, upload design proofs, manage workload and resolve issues.
  • Managing some design team staff as assigned.
  • Serving on committees as required and delegated.

 Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design/Visual Communication or related field, AND
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience; OR,
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Annual Salary:

The budgeted salary range is $54,779 - $60,000.

 **The starting salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected applicant balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
