Emporia State University is seeking a full-time Scholarship and Student Resource Coordinator to join our Financial Aid, Scholarships & Veterans Services team in Emporia, KS.

Job Summary

The Scholarship and Student Resource Coordinator is primarily responsible for administration of the university scholarship programs, and other on and off-campus student funding resources. This unclassified position requires the ability to work closely and confidentially with students, faculty, and administrators in interpreting and applying institutional, state, and federal regulations as it relates to student financial aid. Strong computer/critical thinking skills, and excellent oral and written communication are essential.

The position collects and analyzes documentation from a variety of sources: ESU Foundation, donors, students, and various on and off campus entities. Must be able to work in different modules of the university student information system, Microsoft Access, and the scholarship management portal. This position will also be required to support other duties related to the administration of federal financial aid programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assign donor Gift Agreements per ESU Foundation guidance
  • Interpret and apply university, state, and federal policy
  • Effectively communicate with students and their families, various Emporia State University departments, and off-campus entities regarding scholarships
  • Suggest and implement process improvements
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid, Scholarships, & Veterans Services

Organizational Relationships

The Scholarship Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Financial Aid, Scholarships, & Veterans Services. This position interacts with the ESU Foundation, students, parents, various university offices, scholarship donors, and external agencies. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three years of experience in an office or administrative position
  • Sound judgment, solution orientation, and strong organization and communication (oral and written) skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure with an extremely high degree of accuracy
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Additional Desirable Experience

  • Experience working with state or federal regulations
  • Experience in Higher Education environment
  • Experience relevant to financial aid/scholarships
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Access/database management

Working Conditions and Atmosphere

Fast paced academic environment that will include interaction with students, parents, faculty, staff and various on and off campus offices and agencies. Availability beyond 40 hours per week may be expected during peak times.

Salary

$37,000 annually plus comprehensive benefits package.
