Job Description

Northern Arizona University, a member of the Big Sky Conference, NCAA Division 1, is presently seeking a full-time Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Ideally this position will primarily work with basketball and volleyball, while assisting with football, but final assignments will depend on the characteristics and strengths of the selected candidate.

Duties include:

  • Supervise and administer the strength and conditioning program for student athletes of all sports.
  • Supervise the graduate assistants as assigned.
  • Work closely with the Athletic Training Program and the department medical staff in planning and implementing rehab programs for student athletes.
  • Schedule and provide supervision of the weight room and conditioning areas to provide the highest possible success for the student athletes.
  • Maintain a safe and effective weight room with a focus on the health and welfare of the student athlete.
  • As well as any other duties assigned by supervisor.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Olympic lifts and variations.
  • Must have a working knowledge of conditioning, speed, and change of direction training.
  • Must have a working knowledge of modern periodization models.
  • Administer the program in compliance with all University and NCAA rules and fulfill all duties assigned by the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience training a broad and diverse population of collegiate athletes.
  • A CSCS or SCCC Certification
  • CPR and First Aid Certified

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Exercise Science or related field
  • Greater than 2 years’ experience as a collegiate Strength and Conditioning coach.
  • Experience with Basketball, Volleyball, and Football
  • USAW Certification.
  • Nutritional Education.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with all Olympic lifts and variations
