Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Manager, TX Alternative Teacher Certification works with the campus directors to facilitate admissions, advising, state testing, teaching modules and issuing certifications for candidates; monitors to ensure the program is in compliance with all state and federal laws in reference to testing, curriculum, and provide documentation for accreditation; facilitates meeting the college requirements of the program (i.e. schedule, textbooks, information sessions, hiring).



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Advise candidates: work with campus director to facilitate information sessions, evaluation of transcripts, conduct interviews and orientations
  2. Work with the campus Director to ensure the accuracy of the state and federal reporting. Input as needed into the state electronic reporting system
  3. Monitor programs to see if they meet the needs of the division
  4. Help maintain the program curriculum: facilitate the writing and revising of the program curriculum to meet the Texas Education Agency standards
  5. Assist campus director with program coordination, to include building course schedules, ordering textbooks, confirming room needs
  6. Participate in networking with public and private school districts: plan and conduct advisory meeting, attend job fairs, facilitate marketing for the program
  7. Facilitate programs for Substitute Teacher Training: includes the same activities for program coordination of the Alternative Teacher Certification Program
  8. Assist CE Department in monitoring and compliance and documentation of the Texas Administrative Code and federal reporting for teacher preparation: attend state and local meeting, participate in webinars from Title II (federal) and the Texas Education Agency
  9. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.



WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience




PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience teaching or in school administration


Salary

Hiring salary range is between $52,430 and $60,295

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
