The Gynecology and Obstetrics Department is seeking aSenior Clinical Nurse who will plan and administer outpatient care services for clinical department. The Sr. Clinical Nurse will collaborate with health care providers to establish standards of care for the specialty practices and supervise medical assistants administratively and clinical nurses directly, and may have oversight of the PSC's. This role is responsible for nursing practice standards, regulatory compliance and performance improvement activities of the clinic operation.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design, manage, and evaluate the systems through which patient care is delivered and maintain an efficient and cost-effective environment conducive to quality patient care.
  • Plan and monitor budgets in the areas of nursing personnel, medical-surgical supplies, equipment, and medications.
  • Practice nursing per clinical policy and protocols for the GYN/OB department and under the nursing scope of practice for the State of Maryland. May perform case management services to patients from initial intake visit through termination of services.

Minimum Qualifications:

Individual must be a registered nurse, licensed in the State of Maryland or state where practicing. Bachelor's degree in nursing or related discipline required. Requires minimum of two years of related nursing experience. Additional experience may substitute for bachelor's degree. Related master's degree may be considered in lieu of experience. Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) Certification required Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR certification required. Must maintain current licensure and certification during duration of employment. Acceptable completion of the JHH credentialing process.

JHU Equivalency Formula:30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis.​​​​​​

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Minimum of three years clinical nursing experience in OB/GYN.
  • Minimum of three years leadership experience.

Supervisory Responsibility: Nursing staff, CMA’s and PSC’s.

Physical Requirements:

Sitting, standing and walking for extended period. Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s). Ability to move standard equipment through a hospital or clinical environment.

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
