Shenandoah University’s Office of Institutional Computing is
accepting applications for a Technology Support Staff I/ Student
Support Services. This is a full-time benefited position located on
our main campus in Winchester, Virginia.

Help Desk technicians are genuinely excited to help customers.
They’re patient, empathetic, and passionately communicative. They
love to talk. Help Desk representatives can put themselves in their
customers’ shoes and advocate for them when necessary.
Problem-solving also comes naturally to Help Desk technicians. They
are confident at troubleshooting and investigate if they don’t have
enough information to resolve customer complaints.
The target is to ensure excellent service standards, respond
efficiently to customer inquiries and maintain high customer
- Go above and beyond to serve others and be a positive
- Work in a Help Desk team environment
- Develop and oversee the student IT workforce. This includes
developing training programs and workshops for students
- Recruit and hire 10-15 work study students each year
- Position hours are Monday – Friday, 10am – 7pm
- Technology is always changing and job assignment may change, so
be prepared to work additional responsibilities as assigned by the
KNOWLEDGE: General computer knowledge and skills. Mac and iOS
experience a plus. Training will be provided!
ABILITY: Work with other team members in the Help Desk area. Work
effectively with a broad range of customers who have varied levels
of familiarity with technology. Solve software and hardware related
problems. Work in a fast paced environment that can change quickly.
Ability to create training systems and effectively train the
EDUCATION: College degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in customer service related
