Job Summary

JCCC is looking for a diverse pool of applicants for a part-time humanities faculty position in the Art History and Humanities Department. The ideal candidate is expected to teach World Humanities I & II, Intro to Humanities, and possibly Classical Mythology. They will perform other duties expected of part-time faculty, including maintaining scheduled office hours, developing and implementing course and program assessment of student learning outcomes, and other duties as assigned. They will be able to teach face-to-face starting in the spring 2022 semester. Teaching assignments could be any combination of face-to-face (day or evening), online, or using teleconference software like Zoom. All applications must be submitted to the JCCC jobs portal.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in humanities or a related humanistic discipline, such as the fine arts or classics
Two years' documented successful teaching at the college level
Strong teaching ability
Expertise in a humanistic discipline
Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the teaching mission of a comprehensive community college
Comfort with adopting and using new technologies
Excellence in collaborating with faculty and students within and outside the discipline
Ability to teach sections of World Humanities and Introduction to Humanities

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in a humanistic discipline
Ability to teach a general survey course in World Humanities, in the Humanities / Fine Arts, Classical Mythology, and World Mythology
Demonstrated proficiency with online learning systems
Demonstrated understanding of academic culture
